Offered here is a fine, hand colored litho by Benson Bond Moore of the tiny Heron, the Least Bittern. Benson Bond Moore was born in Washington, DC in 1882 and died in Sarasota, Florida in 1974. These are much sought after engravings, and I was very happy to find this pair. They are hand colored and engraved by C.R. Stock, the originals draw by Henry Alken. They are 19th century sporting art pieces, and depict 4 scenes of a cock fight. The first is titled "Set Too", the next is "Fight", followed by "Throat" and "Death". There is some toning I would say, and a some foxing in the margins of one print. That one print doesn't lay quite flat a ...click for details

STOLEN

This is a wonderful etching by Frank Patou of Jack Russell terriers, I believe the term is "gone to ground". The title of the etching is "Notice to Quit". Among the many attributes of this work is the large number of remarques around the central image. There are 8 in all, all humorous, depicting mostly some interaction between man and animal. They really add to the charm of this unusual piece. The print has been professionally framed in a fine burlwood frame with a doubl ...click for details
