This is a wonderful etching by Frank Patou of Jack Russell terriers, I believe the term is "gone to ground". The title of the etching is "Notice to Quit". Among the many attributes of this work is the large number of remarques around the central image. There are 8 in all, all humorous, depicting mostly some interaction between man and animal. Here we have a rather abstract etching, the subject of which is unknown to me, but I find that interesting to say the least. It could be fencing, city roofscapes, barbed wire or electronics...I don't know, but I'm endlessly fascinated nevertheless. The colors are soft greys and celedon and taupe, framed in a bronze metal frame. It is signed but the handwriting makes it difficult to understand. It is dated '81. Beautiful etching, signed illegibly, of a nude before and apple tree. Beautiful sepia tones in a gold frame. Lovely condition. As framed, 15" by 18". Approximate age of etching is 1950, frame is later.
