SOLD

Offered here is a late Meiji to early Showa period figural container of bronze or bronzed metal in the form of a monkey and her young. It is very well cast with nice detail on both figures and on the bottom. The head is hinged in the back and lifts up to reveal a hollow interior. I have no idea what this would have been used for. It is in very good condition...the only flaw being the hinge. It wore through at some point and is now held together with wire. The box is signed on the bottom. ...click for details

SOLD

Offered here is a fine, strong wood block print by Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997) Japan, depicting figures in a winter landscape and snow covered buildings. The print is untitled, but I imagine the location would be Aizu, which was Kiyoshi's hometown. I have removed the print from the frame and mat to better show the condition. There are four brown spots in the snow, and where the tape held the print in the mat. I can include the simple black frame that is original to the print, if you like. Th ...click for details
