This watercolor portrait was bought at auction in Paris. It is attributed to Leopold Stevens (1886-1935) who exhibited frequently at the Salon des Artistes Francais, and was awarded a bronze medal in 1900. He was known for portraits, genre,naval and landscape paintings. This one is an evocative portrait of an unknown person rendered in pastel colors.
