$200.00

This is a very pretty Windsor chair in early black paint. My favorite part of the chair is the hand carved stiles on the back that are curved back so carefully but are still slightly irregular. The chair is sturdy and the legs do not wobble. Seat height is 17", back height is 33" at the center point. The legs, sides and stiles are bamboo turned, and the legs have a nice little splay to them. This is a charming country chair.

This is a wonderful spiral and wreathed column, often referred to as a Solomonic column. The association with Solomon dates to late antiquity when a set of six white marble spiral columns served as supports for the ciborium, or canopy, over the tomb of the apostle in the basilica of Old St. Peter's. The belief is that the columns were taken from the Temple of Solomon and delivered to Rome from the Holy Land by Helen, mother of Constantine the Great. The form was used by European artists an ...click for details

$150.00

This is an interesting example of Tsuboya pottery from Okinawa. The Tsuboya district has been producing pottery in the traditional methods since the 17th century. This jug employs a style of sqraffito that leaves only this very stylized floral motif glazed and not cut away. The glazed inky black design stands out in sharp contrast to the unglazed umber ground. The jug is in fine condition with only a small flake to the rim as a flaw. It stands approximately 7.75". Made between 1940-6 ...click for details

Offered here is a fine, strong wood block print by Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997) Japan, depicting figures in a winter landscape and snow covered buildings. The print is untitled, but I imagine the location would be Aizu, which was Kiyoshi's hometown. I have removed the print from the frame and mat to better show the condition. There are four brown spots in the snow, and where the tape held the print in the mat. I can include the simple black frame that is original to the print, if you like. Th ...click for details

This is the cutest little item you ever saw. It is either a tooth fairy box or a small pill box. It is marked 800 and has a rather continental design on the top, so it's obviously European. The hinge works perfectly and it closes tightly. There are one or two tiny dings on the bottom (and I see I didn't polish it as well as I thought I did), but otherwise it is in fine condition. Barely 1" in diameter and about 1/2" high. This is probably mid 20th century.
