SOLD

Stunning 1880-ish pineapple motif bread tray. Vivid colors of green on yellow with brown braid trim, brown center. Some knife marks in the bottom and a little wear to some of the high spots (pattern is busy, so it is not obvious). Mottled coloration on the back. There is a spot on the back that looks almost like a thumb print in the glaze. I assume that is in the making. Very impressive piece. Size is 13" by 11 1/2".

This beautiful jug comes with it's charming, handwritten history included. It has been passed down in the same Georgia family for many generations. At least one generation "served buttermilk from the pitcher to the family for supper", (from the history). It has been lovingly handled because it is in very fine condition. There are no chips, cracks or repairs, only the slightest wear on both sides, exactly where you would place your hand to support the pitcher as you poured, whet ...click for details

This is such an outstanding piece of majolica! These fish pitchers are called gurgling because of the sound they make when liquid is poured out. The colors are lovely and soft, and set off strikingly by the lavender-pink throat. No flaws not in the making, mint condition top to toe. English, C.1880.

Very charming cup and saucer in black and white, banded with pink lustre. Delightful scene of a manor house, with a couple strolling the grounds, sheep being tended by a shepherd and his dog. The cup has an applied handle. The transfer is clear and sharp. Thinly potted, pearlware glaze. Excellent condition with only minimal wear to the lustre around the rim. About 1820-30.

This is such a pretty little piece and it is free of cracks, chips or repairs. It is brown bamboo wrapped with a blue-green fern, and the interior is the pale orchid that we love on majolica. The bottom has the English registry mark. A perfect little gem standing approximately 4 1/2" high. (Please note the colors are a little richer than the pictures show.)

This is a particularly beautiful and desirable piece of majolica. It is signed Wedgwood, dates to about 1880 and is in mint condition. The platter has a scalloped border of yellow branch coral. The design in the center is seaweed and other ocean flora on a bright aqua pebbled ground. The colors are bright and fresh, the effect is very beach-y. The size is 11 3/4" by 10" and, I repeat, perfect.

SOLD

This is a 19th century English majolica Sardine box in a seaweed and seashell design on a deep green ground. It is hard to shoot this green correctly but it is a deep and lustrous sea green and the colors of yellow and deep pink and aqua are set off by the green to great advantage. The size is 8" square approximately and is 3 3/4" to the top of the seashell. The dish is in excellent condition save some light staining on the interior. No chips, cracks or repairs. A beautiful piece ...click for details

This is a fine example of English feather edge earthenware. These wares were sometimes referred to as Leeds ware or shell edge. It is possible to date these wares by the shape of the rim. This style with the impressed edge dates to between 1830 and 1860. These wares were among the most popular and long lived styles ever produced by the English ceramics industry and were made and exported in large quantities between 1780 and 1860. This fine large platter is in excellent condition with only ...click for details

This is one of the most beautiful pieces of flow blue that I have ever seen. It is impressively large, standing 6 1/2" high and 12" across at it's widest point. The interior of the bowl and the stand are covered in raised strawberries, currants, leaves, vines and blossoms. The rim of the bowl is designed to look like a vine curving around the top. Just breathtaking! The compote is practically flawless with no chips or cracks, almost no surface wear and only some pale discolora ...click for details
