SOLD

Offered here is a trinket box or dresser box in gilt metal with a figural bronze insert. The bronze is very finely cast and the detail is excellent. There are two groups of figures. On the left is a couple apparently courting. The male is bringing a basket of flowers to the seated young woman with her dog at her side. On the right a couple stand head to head in a loving gesture and there is a child tugging at his mothers apron. A tree with flowing branches separates these scenes, and it ma ...click for details

Offered here is a pair of wonderful, large tole sconces with mirrored backs. They are shaped like a pagoda, with the pointed top, scalloped "valance" and sides shaped like cascading drapes. They each have a gold, rope trim around the top and bottom, and a gold tassel hangs beneath the shelf. The color is a wonderful ocean blue. These are large, measuring 32" from the top to the bottom of the tassel. Each is about 9.5" across and the shelf is 4.5" deep. These will t ...click for details

This is a Chippendale shape footed tray in silver on copper with an armorial motif in the center raised on pay feet. It measures 9" by 7.5". It is in good condition, with surface scratches and copper bloom in some areas around the edge and in the lines of the decoration in the center. The tray is marked with a tiny stamp that looks like an arm holding a mallet or a tomahawk, neither of which have I been able to find in my reference materials. On the opposite edge there is another s ...click for details

SOLD

Offered here is a small solid bronze candlestick in a seahorse form. The seahorse is very finely cast and has a wonderful, rich patina. The candle cup and bobeche resemble a lotus blossom. The candlestick is on a gilt metal base (I suppose it is bronze also, but don't really know), supported by 4 ball feet, one of which has been resoldered. This is an utterly delightful item. I expect it dates to 1920-30's. There is wear to the gilding on the base, which one would expect, but no ot ...click for details

SOLD

Here we have a beautiful mid century Italian gilt metal centerpiece in the form of pond leaves and flowers on intertwined stems. It's only decorative (and how!)so it doesn't "do" anything, although I expect you could place little votives on it if you wanted to. But as a centerpiece or a decorative object on a side table it can't be beat. It is in excellent condition, measures approximately 6.5" high and is about 14" across.

Offered here is a wonderful sterling silver match box with attached tray made by Theodore B. Starr circa 1900-1924 (the years he was in business). This was purchased in 1965 at the estate sale of Frederick Brewster, a New Haven industrialist, at the mansion he had built in 1909 called Edgerton. When he died in 1957 he donated the property to the city of New Haven. They eventually tore the main house down, and the property became what is now called Edgerton Park, a green space jewel set on the ...click for details

These have such a great look! They are a pair of Italian tole candle holders in the form of birds and pears on a branch. Great surface and color. Each one is a little bit different...one bird has wings aloft, the other does not. They measure around 6" across and one is about 6" high, the other about 7". These are 1st half of the 20th century.

SOLD

Offered here is a wonderful dog collectible. It is a sterling silver dish or coaster awarded or commemorating Best of Breed at the Eastern Dog Club, Boston, established in 1911. This was awarded in 1965. It has a fine image of a dog with clouds and a setting sun in the background. The dog looks like a greyhound or a whippet perhaps, but I could be wrong. The dish is 3.5" in diameter, about .75" deep and is in excellent condition. It is marked sterling on the bottom.
