Offered here is an interesting painting in lively colors of a landscape, with what I first thought were haystacks, but look more like huts to me. One, in fact, has a doorway cut into it, with the door itself sort of hanging at an angle. There is a grass roofed shed of some kind in the left middle ground, mountains in the background. While the painting has a French feel to me, it may actually depict a location in Africa, I like the way it is painted. heavy impasto technique is used in the fr ...click for details

Here we have a fine and interesting painting of wild horses and an Argentine cowboy. There is lots of action in this painting the way only a skilled watercolorist can portray it. Done entirely in earth tones as if to further emphasize the atmosphere of the action on the plain. The painting is signed, and dated 1942. I cannot make out the first name at all, but the last name may be Teby. Even so, I am not sure and thus have not been able to find out any information about the artist. Offered here is a very interesting painting by Spanish artist Daniel Sabater. He was born in Valencia in 1888 and died in 1951. He was an impressionist painter and later a surrealist, and was a friend and contemporary of Dali. The title of this painting, "La Prudencia de un Rey", translates from the Spanish to "The Prudence of a King", and you can see the King leading a small procession under a rather forbidding sky. (Notice the odd little ducks at the front.) It is sig ...click for details

This is a particularly well painted later painting in the 18th century style. It is signed Beltram, first name illegible. It depicts figures in an Italian landscape with structures and mountains in the background. It is a small painting, measuring 13.5" by 11" as framed, the image measuring 8.5" by 5" approximately. The painting is very detailed for such a small piece, in appealing colors and a beautiful gilt wood frame.

This is a lovely painting in the impressionist style, depicting an idyllic landscape of mountains, charming dwellings beside a brook. The scene could be Austria, maybe Northern Italy...I don't know. It's a romantic painting by a fine artist. The painting is signed, and I have photographed the signature for you. I cannot read it, but maybe you can. The painting and the frame are in fine condition and measure approximately 36" by 30". Dates to the late 19th century-early 20 ...click for details

First let me say this is a very difficult piece to photograph. I hope that my pictures are satisfactory. Having said that, this is a delightful pastel, very much in the manner of Mary Cassatt, depicting a woman ironing. Mundane as that sounds, the drawing is beautiful, serene and very well done. I is rendered on gray paper, in a gray mat and gilt frame. It is signed Birnie 1920, and I have no further information than that on the artist. It measures 14.5" by 16.5" in the frame. These are much sought after engravings, and I was very happy to find this pair. They are hand colored and engraved by C.R. Stock, the originals draw by Henry Alken. They are 19th century sporting art pieces, and depict 4 scenes of a cock fight. The first is titled "Set Too", the next is "Fight", followed by "Throat" and "Death". There is some toning I would say, and a some foxing in the margins of one print. That one print doesn't lay quite flat a ...click for details

Offered here is a miniature oil on board, 19th century, in a lemon gilt frame. The frame shows some wear and a split along the right side that has been glued. The painting depicts a small sailboat on a river with hills in the background, trees, rocks and foliage in the foreground. The light is handled skillfully, and it appears to be that late afternoon sun that sets everything ablaze. It's a charming, tranquil scene that makes me long for such leisure. The measurements are 7.75" b ...click for details
