This is a very striking portrait by Rhoda Dawson dated 1932. Miss Dawson was an English artist who went to Newfoundland in 1930 to work with the Grenfell Mission. In 1934 she went to Twillingate, where she worked in the hospital run by the American physician and surgeon John Olds, one of Newfoundland's most celebrated practitioners.
