This is one of a pair of 18th century gilt wood capitals removed from a column. They are hand carved and gilded. They would have been against a surface because most of the back is not carved. They are 7" high and 7" at the widest point.

These spectacular marble columns are from a Mississippi estate and date to around 1870. The marble is deep, mossy green and white with green. Each column stands 43" high, and the top is 15" square. I wish I could show them to you side by side, but they are too heavy to move, and sit where they were placed when we brought them in. Craters and Freighters can deliver them anywhere!
