This is just an outstanding little footstool, with lots of character and the most wonderful legs. The pictures will tell the story better than I can, but I believe it to be American, probably dating to around 1850-1860. It measures 15" square and is 18" tall. The top has an age crack that has been secured underneath. You will see how it was done in the enlargements. The pictures were taken with the flash which makes the stool appear slightly lighter than it actually is in a couple ...click for details

SOLD

This is a rare piece even for a Floridian. This fanciful stand is made entirely of palm fronds and dates between 1900-1930. African Americans made these and sold them out of the backs of their trucks as they traveled the countryside, seasides and resort towns of Florida, much the way the Highwaymen did later. This is our own native furniture, and Old Florida folk art rolled into one. The palm frond furniture was made up into the 50's for motels and beachside homes, and have been reproduc ...click for details
