| Offered here is a fine tea set in sterling silver by Durgin, circa 1900. The service consists of 10" hot water pitcher, 8" teapot, 5.5" cream jug, 6" sugar, and 4" waste bowl. The total weight of the 5 pieces is 72 troy ounces, or just under 5 pounds, not including the tray. Each piece has hand chased and repousse' flowers and vines contained in panels that circle the vessel. There are ivory finials and insulators. Each piece is monogramed in a very elaborate script (that I cannot make out). The set was retailed by Charles W. Warren & Co. The tray is EPNS and has the makers mark EGW&S. It measures 15.5" square and has very fine detailing on the edge. The ivory finial on the hot water is split in half top to bottom, otherwise the tea service is in very fine condition. The tray has a few tiny spots scattered on the surface that lightened but did not polish out. | |||||||||||||||
