| Offered here is a skillful execution of a landscape rendered in oil on canvas and painted with a brush and pallet knife. The painting has great composition and wonderful soft earth and sky colors, and strong confident strokes. The painting is framed in a white washed frame. It is signed, lower left, Pierre Lemaire, and dated on the verso Oct 5 1958, also L.A., M.C.. There is a small repair that is invisible from the front, but evidenced by a tiny patch on the back. The painting measures approximately 20" by 16" and the frame is 26.75" by 22.75". There is a listed artist by the name of Pierre Lemaire born in 1920, but the only example of his work that I could find was a large abstract painting. It doesn't rule him out, but I could go no further. | ||||||
