| Offered here is a small oil on masonite of a procession of figures in robes and turbans near two large rock formations. The figures are faceless and you cannot tell whether they are male or female figures, except for the fact that the two figures on the far right seem to be a good bit taller than the others, which leads me to think they may be men. I don't know whether it is a somber procession or simply a moment frozen in time, but that is part of what I like about the painting...the mystery of it. Also, I am impressed with how the artist was able to imbue the figures with a sense of drama in just a few, small brushstrokes. It is signed Betty Marks and, on the verso, Betty Marks 1967. She is talented, to be sure, but unknown to me, and not found in my references. The painting is framed in a stacked, stripped pine (?) frame with a thin gold liner. The painting measures 5.5" by 4.5". The frame is 12.5" by 11". | ||||||||
