This is a lovely old plate that dates to Victorian times, circa 1850 - 1880. The only makers mark is that of the pattern ‘CLEOPATRA’ but there is no maker’s name. With research the pattern could probably be traced to a pottery which is likely to be one of the Staffordshire manufactories in England. The blue and white decoration shows what appears to be the ruins of a Roman or Greek temple not a pyramid or sphinx as the pattern name would suggest. The plate is nearly 10.5 inches wide and is in good display condition with just a piece missing from the footrim.
