THIS JAPANESE CLOISONNE HIGH SHOULDERED VASE IS FROM THE GOLDEN AGE OF JAPANESE ENAMELLING.
Produced at the beginning of the 20th Century late in the MEIJI period or early in the Taisho. It is a very good example of the style developed in Kyoto having several bands of dark speckled and mottled enamels. The speckled light and dark green band to the shoulder contains flowers and butterflies . Three phoenix adorn the dark green band below that sparkles with specks of mica . The middle band is a mottled brown decorated with pawlonia flowers and leaves. At the bottom are chrysanthemums on white flecked brown enamel. 7.25 inches (18 cms) tall the vase is in very good condition with just a small ding to the shoulder. It is difficult to see and does not spoil the beauty of this finely worked vase.
