Japanese Sometsuke Lidded Box by Kawahara Yasutaka

Pretty lidded porcelain box, or kogo (incense container), by Kawahara Yasutaka, finely decorated in sometsuke (underglaze blue) with a design of flower on the cover.
The condition of the box is perfect. The kiln's name, Ishiyasu-gama, is written on the reverse. It comes enclosed in a signed wooden box, with a certificate.
Dimensions: 7.2 cm (2.8 in) in diameter, 3.2 cm (1.3 in) in height
Kawahara Yasutaka was born in Nagoya (Aichi Prefecture) in 1936. After professional trainings in Japan and abroad, he dedicated a part of his life to teaching, and another part to creation, concentrating on sometsuke ware from 1975. He opened his kiln in Okazaki (Aichi Prefecture), Ishiyasu-gama, in 1979.
