Beautiful Meiji period Satsuma ware figurine of a shishi seated, its mouth closed, holding a ball under its paw. Over a typical Satsuma crackled creamy glaze, it is painted with various colors and gilt in great details, notably on the collar finely decorated with a design of fans, the ball and the hair of the shishi.
The figurine is in very good condition, with no chips or cracks, but there is some wear to the gilt decoration. Dimensions: about 15 cm (5.9 in) long, 9.8 cm (3.9 in) large and 17 cm (6.7 in) high |
