This really beautiful Persian jar dates from around the 12th~13th century AD. A Japanese specialist named Ichikawa Kiyoshi certified it as being from the Rayy (Rey) or Kashan area of Persia (modern Iran); a center for the production of high quality potteries at that time. The jar comes from a private Japanese collector. It was pieced back together by a professional and shows several hairlines, which have been attenuated on the outside. Yet the Persian blue glaze decorated with gold is still vibrant and the jar remains a splendid artifact. As it is often the custom with Japanese collectors, a box was made to fit the jar. It is made of paulownia wood and signed by Ichikawa Kiyoshi, as an attestation. The box also comes with a letter (in Japanese) from the expert. Please inquire if you have some questions. Dimensions: 15.5 x 17 cm (6.2 x 6.8 in)
