Standing Sho-Kannon Bosatsu sculpted in relief from a dense, high-quality sandstone, the left hand holding a long-stemmed lotus blossom and the right forming the semui-in mudra of fearlessness. Clearly dated to the third year of the Kansei Era (1791), late-Edo Period. Virtually pristine condition.

Height: 55.1 cm
Width: 22.0 cm
Depth: 17.5 cm.

An elegantly rendered example of late-Edo professional work, with good size and in excellent condition.
