Jizo Bosatsu sculpted in wood traced delicately in gilt filigree, a gilt-copper crozier held in the right hand and a sacred jewel in the left, standing atop a gilt-wood lotus-form dais on a multilevel plinth attached to the floor of a protective zushi sculpted in wood and finished in lacquer, the interior covered in gold leaf and the hinges, closing clasp, and decorative elements in gilt copper. Late-Edo Period ca. 1850. Minor loss to the zushi exterior; otherwise, excellent, entirely original condition. Height of zushi exterior: 24.5 cm |
