Stone Jizo bosatsu bodhisattva Buddha Edo 18 c.

Figurative stone depiction of a standing Jizo Bosatsu, the right hand grasping a shakujo (crozier) and the left bearing aloft the sacred jewel. Edo Period ca. 1750. Minor loss, mainly to the rectangular base, and overall softening of the lines and contours. Excellent lichen accumulation.

Height, including base 42.5 cm, Width of base 14.7 cm, Depth of base 13.7 cm

An elegantly sculpted Jizo with a notably pleasant visage.
