Stone depiction of a seated Amida Buddha, the hands placed centrally on the lap in the Amida jo-in concentration mudra. Muromachi Period (1392–1568). Fragmented condition, the lower half of the piece having broken away at some point in the distant past. Light lichen accumulation. Height: 24.5 cm A notably atmospheric piece with significant age, bespeaking the Buddhist precept of decline's inevitability. |
