$49 each ($25 for chipped example)

A group of four 9-3/4" dinner plates in the Aesthetic style c1880s, made by Keller & Guerin, Luneville, France. Each has the stylized KG DEPOSE mark and each depicts a different scene of birds. All plates have hand-gilding with cloudlike gold and gold trim and edging; each is on a cream ground. These plates are in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs except for a 1/8" rim chip on the back of the web-footed bird plate (not visible from the front), which also has some minor rubbing to the gilt rim. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $12 for one plate (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. NOTE: we DO NOT accept PayPal.

$150

A 19th century Staffordshire china cottage c1850-60s. It is the flat back type, and measures 4 1/4" high and 3 7/16" across. The colouration is simple - yellow ochre and rust-brown. It is overall in excellent condition for its age except for a small chip on the chimney and wear to the painted decoration. The bocage around the roof eaves is in excellent shape (very minor loss, not noticeable) and no cracks, crazing, staining or repairs. Cottages are hard to find, and this is a nice example. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $12 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. $245

A fine looking 19th century Staffordshire figurine of a girl with a basket of fruit riding a goat c1840-60. It measures 7 1/2" high and 5 1/2" at the widest. It is a fully decorated and figured Staffordshire figure, not a flat back style. It is in excellent condition except for one detail - the tip of the girl's foot is chipped. Other than that, it is in exceptional shape - no cracks, crazing or repairs, and the paint in in excellent shape. There is a firing crack on the back of the girl's neck, but it is original to the manufacture of the piece, and does not detract. A fine example. $195 set

A classy, Aesthetic period silverplated handled eggstand with 6 eggcups and a set of spoons c1870s. The stand measures 10-1/4" high and it has six legs and a handle with naturalistic leaves; the eggcups are simply decorated with an openwork vine with an engraved double wavy line. It bears the mark of Jehoiada Alsop Rhodes & Barber (Sheffield, England 1877-79, A over JR in clover mark) and it has a British registry mark dating the stand to March 13, 1879 (year letter somewhat obscured). The six 5" spoons are by Rhodes before he joined up with Barber (1871-76, J over AR in a clover leaf) and date a few years earlier than the stand (year date obscured). $58

A true rarity of vintage American pressed or pattern glass. This is the 5-1/4" long and 4-5/8" wide wall pocket in the Elephant or Jumbo pattern in amber glass, issued by the King Glass Co. in 1890. Variously described as a match holder, match striker, wall pocket or vase, this item has vivid and crisp detail. It is 2-3/4" deep and is guaranteed to be antique glass. This item is in fair original condition with no chips, losses, damage or repairs other than a large internal crack below the eye and above the tusks. This crack is visible from the front and around the back and it appears to be a dividing line between the light upper glass and the deeper amber hue of the glass in the trunk. It can't be felt from the front but can be felt with a fingernail on the interior - the integrity of the piece is intact. Please note the straw mark just below the eye in the last picture (it's not a crack); this item's book value is $750 + in intact condition. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $8 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. $495

A 19th century wool and red flannel Canadian patchwork quilt, hand stitched and made from 19th century dark wool suit cloth and red cotton flannel, produced in the last quarter of the 19th century. Purchased locally in the Niagara region, (Ontario) area from the granddaughter of the quilt's maker, who emigrated to Canada in the 19th century from Europe, this 90" x 76" quilt has panels of men's wool suit cloth, in dark blue, grey, brown and black, pieced with red cotton flannel. It is stitched in a repeating hills stitch (more visible on the back of the quilt in our pictures). Please note that the photo was taken outside on a sunny day, and the colours appear a shade lighter in our photos than the quilt actually is, in real life. It is edged in red cotton flannel and backed with grey cotton flannel. There is a 12 inch long narrow section of suit cloth of the same patterns and vintage along one border of the quilt, done to even up the edge, and it appears to be original to the making of the quilt. This item is in excellent original condition with no fading, stains, holes, losses, damage or repairs other than a 1" separation along the edging on one panel (easily repaired). All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $20 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. NOTE: we do not accept PayPal.

$78

A vintage Victorian period porcelain pink lustre 5 piece condiment or cruet set depicting a playing pair of cherubs or children with the legend "A present from Rathdowney" (a town located in County Laois, Ireland). This 5-3/8" across set is 5-1/4" deep and stands 4-1/2" high with the lids and shaker insert. It includes the base with molded leaf decoration, gold trim and the original spoon for the lidded mustard pot; the shaker inserts into one of the cups. The lustre is a Sunderland pink, popular in the mid to late 19th century, and this set has an incised 776 on the bottom and was most likely made originally in Austria or Germany, and sold in Rathdowney. This set is in excellent original condition with no cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a touch of gold wear and a small 1/8" interior shallow rim chip on the mustard bowl and a small loss to the transfer decoration. There are the expected bits of frit and the mustard lid is original but is not a precise fit. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $9 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. NOTE: we do not accept PayPal.
