A fine and early Canadian East Coast native ash splint buttocks basket c1900 (or earlier). This basket stands 10-3/4" high with the handle and it measures 11-3/4" x 10-7/8" across the mouth; it is in excellent original condition with no damage or repairs other than a stained area with some minor losses on the interior bottom of the basket. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $16 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. A fine and vintage North American ash splint carrying or market basket c1900. This 21-1/4" x 11-1/2" basket has wide ribbons of ash splint and nailed construction; the bentwood handle is hand hewn, and this item is in excellent original condition with no losses, holes, rot, damage or repairs other than some very very slight short cracks and frays on a couple of the reeds (barely noticeable) - there is no lacquered finish on the basket. It is most likely of American rather than Canadian origin, as it was apparently brought originally from New York state. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted. Surface shipping starts at $28 (to the US - other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. We do ship internationally.
