SOLD

A true rarity in exemplary condition. This is an early 20th century 9" x 10-1/2" x 3-1/2" (folded, 13" with bellows extended) mahogany and brass large format dry plate camera with lens c1920. This early piece of photographic equipment has well-made brass fittings and adjustment screws, the original leather carrying strap (minor scuffing and cracking but still intact), the original red leather bellows and a fine quality Schneider lens. The backing plate is removable as is the lens assembly, with the face of the camera with the lens able to be adjusted by height. The screwback removable lens is a Xenar f:5.6 19.5 cm manual iris model, made by Jos. Schneider & Co. Kreuznach, with the serial number 93315 (date of manufacture c1924, introduced 1919). It has an added cardboard iris gauge, and this camera is missing only the lens cap and the tripod and backing mount. The bellows are pliant with no tears and the lens appears clear. The camera overall appears to be in excellent, near mint, gently used condition. We haven't found any information on the SOM company or camera model, but this is a high quality unit from the early years of the last century (it even has indicator gauges on the brass pivots). This item is in excellent original condition with no losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $20 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. NOTE: we do not accept PayPal.
