A pair of early Frankoma pottery candleholders. These 4-1/2" x 2-7/8" candle sticks features the green-highlighted brown glaze used on Frankoma pottery, and they are of Atta clay (in production from 1933-1955 until the clay was replaced with a different source). They are stamped FRANKOMA 340 and the unglazed clay is the expected honey yellow colour (our pictures are a bit on the pink side). This pair is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. A rare Art Deco German earthenware pottery tobacco humidor made by Wachtersbach of Schlierbach. This particular line by Wachtersbach was produced from 1929 to 1930 only. This 6-3/4" tall jar features a green and crackled mustard yellow design. It has the pattern number 7173 and the 1929-30 Wachtersbach pottery mark on the bottom, and this item is in very good condition with no breaks, losses, damage or repairs other than a small impact crack and bruise on the rim of the lid (see images). All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. A scarce 4-7/8" high and 8" across the handle and lip English pottery large jug in the Desert Scenes D3192 pattern, issued by Royal Doulton from 1909-26. This jug features colourful handpainted scenes of Arabian desert dwellers, their camels, and some palm trees. It is marked with the Doulton backstamp and the number 8, and this jug is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some overall crazing and some slight browning on the interior only. Please note that there is a miss to the green paint under the glaze below the palm trees (original). A 1910s-20s vintage American art pottery 4-5/8" vase by Niloak, in the collectable Mission Swirl pattern. This matte glaze Arts and Crafts vase has swirls of colours in copper, turquoise, white, browns and greens; it has the round NILOAK POTTERY sticker in use during this period as well as the impressed NILOAK fancy N mark mostly covered by the sticker. It has the original price of $1.00, and there are some later wax pencil markings on the bottom as well. The marbleized swirl is quite attractive, the interior is blue with dark blue specks, and this vase is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some expected very slight scuffs and marks to the surface (barely noticeable). An attractive, colourful vintage 1950s-early 1960 German art pottery 6-3/4" x 5" biscuit jar. This unusual and cool German mid-century modern drip glazed pottery biscuit caddy features a brown ground with bright splashes of colour as well as a finely detailed handle. It retains some of its original tag ("(ker)AMIK HANDE(?)" (probably handegemalt, German for hand made), and it is incised 11 with an inked K on the bottom. The centre figure in the tag shows it as being produced by Marzi and Remy, as this figure occasionally shows up impressed on their pottery, on pieces pre-dating 1964. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some crazing visible on the lid interior and bottom only and some stained crazing on the bottom of the interior.
