A stunning Art Deco period Bulova lady's watch in 14k white gold set with diamonds and synthetic sapphires c1920s. It comes with the matching Art Deco period gold filled filigree expansion watchband c1920s, set with synthetic sapphires, probably original to the watch. The watch case measures 1-1/8" x 5/8" (without the sapphire-tipped winder), the face has blued hands and black standard numerals. The watch strap is a spring expansion type, and measures 6" at rest (7-1/8" including the watch), and there are spring levers on both sides of the strap so the strap can be removed. There is also a simple clasp at the back of the watch that opens the strap when you lift the filigree panel (it matches the rest of the watch strap). There are two genuine brilliant cut diamonds (approximately 3 points each by gauge), four triangular cut sapphires, and a cabochon synthetic sapphire set in the clap. There are two baguette cut synthetic sapphires in the watch strap. The winder and strap sapphires are definitely synthetic, the four sapphires in the watch case may be genuine, but have not been evaluated. The case is stamped PAT. JUN 10, 1924 and 14K. The back of the watch is engraved "MARGERY (name partially scratched out) -FROM- AUNT GUSSIE MAY 25, 29". The case and strap have been rhodium plated, accounting for its chrome-like finish. The works are stamped BULOVA WATCH CO. FIFTEEN 15 JEWELS 51511 6 AP, and the works are enclosed/covered by a celluloid dust seal. It is currently running and keeping time, however we haven't cleaned or had it serviced, so it and it is being sold as is. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than one expanding link at the top lug has become loose. It is attached and the strap is currently wearable, but it doesn't go back to a completely closed position (the spring retains its tension when the link is pushed in), so a jeweller or someone handy with small tools would need to re-connect it with the spring to allow it to spring completely shut. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $6 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $85 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. NOTE: we do not accept PayPal.
