A great c1890-1900 German papier mache box with fancy script "EMPRESS" GLOSS. gold advertising on the lid. This 6-1/4 x 2-1/4" box has a black lacquer exterior and a red interior, and the lid is hinge-mounted. It is stamped "PAPIER MACHE" MANUFACTURED IN GERMANY on the bottom; we were unable to find out any information on the product or company. This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a few tiny flakes to the lacquer on the lid's edge (one visible, three under the lip) and some minor losses to the shiny gloss on the surface (very slight). All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. An interesting silver plated 2-5/8" x 1-1/2" hinged-lid stamp box c1890-1900. This unsigned box features a floral corner applique and two applied butterflies on the top, a pin stop and corner swinging pivot. The interior has remnants of what appears to be adhesive from some missing material and it has two cutout felt pieces; it would make a nice jewellery box. This item is in excellent original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a slight blush of brass on the applied sections and some minor roughness to the top's silver plating. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. A matching set of six 3 x 3" gilt brass furniture drawer pulls c1890-1900. Each retains its original screw and washer; four are slightly curved and two are flat (probably for a bottom drawer). Each has traces of the original gilding and the loops on each have a red patina while three (two curved, one flat) have traces of red on the backing plates (possibly from a painted piece). They are unsigned, and they are in excellent original condition with no cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. An attractively engraved silver plated German snuffbox c1900-10. This snuffbox measures 3-3/4" x 2-5/8", is stamped GERMANY under the thumb edge, has the original gilt interior and it is in excellent condition, with no dents, cracks, monograms, repairs or damage other than some minor wear to the engraving from minor use, a tiny pinhead area of silver plate loss on the top and an area on the bottom corner. A mid 19th century unsigned 3-1/2" x 1-7/8" papier-mache snuffbox with brass hinge and mother of pearl inlay. This box has nice pink and green fire from the inlay, and is in very good original condition with no chips, damage or repairs other than some shallow under-surface cracking on the top (not through the black finish) and the loss of a bit of the fine banding on the interior border of the inlay. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted. An ornate set of three matching stamped metal (brass with iron pulls) drawer pulls c1880s. These 4" wide handles have 3" centers with threaded bolts, and they have great patination on the front, with traces of the original gilding (gilding intact on the back). The patterned steel drops add a great look to these drawer pulls, and this unsigned set is in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, dents, monograms, repairs or damage other than the loss of the gilding leaving a nicely coloured brass appearance. There is a bit of greening (easily removed), and these handles can be polished if you wish. One drop is reversed, and can be reinserted in the bolts (nuts will be required - only one is present but they look to be a standard size). A vintage hand forged Scottish Arts & Crafts door pull or handle c1890-1900. This unsigned handle is of excellent heavy quality. It was brought back from Glasgow, Scotland many years ago, and it has a wonderful A&C motif as well as a great patina. It measures 12-7/8" long and it would be a great addition to your vintage decor.
