A large European .833 silver Art Deco 3-7/8" pancake compact c1920-30. This beauty features fine hand-engraving on the top with a cartouche (unmonogrammed), and a plain back. It is stamped with an LG maker's mark and 833 on the back, and it has a mirror and well for powder (still present). A superb late Victorian period tortoiseshell celluloid hair backcomb with an opulent paste laden wings set into a rolled gold plated setting c1890. This lovely hair accessory measures 5-1/8" x 2-3/4", and the white paste claw-set stones are mounted on a gold plated wing shaped back plate. The paste stones are all claw set and mounted into a twist wirework superstructure. The backing plate is a rolled rose gold sheet pin mounted into the comb. It is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some minute tarnish/corrosion spots near the edge of the plate (not particularly noticeable).
