Pre-Columbian ~ MOCHE ~ Anthropomorphic VESSEL
$ 600

This is a Pre-Columbian MOCHE Anthropomorphic Vessel from Peru, 100 - 800 A.D. It measures about 5 1/2" X 5 1/2" X 9 1/2" ( 14.0 cm X 14.0 cm X 24.2 cm ). Very decorated and detailed. The vessel also depicts an animal around the head of the anthropomorphic figure. Moche pottery is one of the most diversed in the world. The use of mold technology is a fact. Ceramics varied in form, size, and theme (hunting, fishing, sacrifice, sex, war, weaving, metalwork, etc. ). The ceramics were very detailed and realistic. It is believed that young generations inherited the knowledge of nature and life, reciprocity and incorporation, cultural and social norms, and other important concepts, from their ancestors and through their art.
