GEORGIA O'KEEFFE ~ Poster
This is a Georgia O'Keeffe ( 1887 - 1986) Poster, National Gallery of Art, Washington, November 1st 1987 - February 21st 1988. Georgia O'Keeffe was a native of Wisconsin. She graduated from the Chatham Protestant Episcopal Institute in Williamsburg, VA, and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Art Students League of NY. Her talent changed modern art in the past and in the present. Her goal was to portray the power and emotion of objects of nature. She magnified paintings of flowers and animal bones to express their beauty. Her accomplishments include: Elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters, First Retrospective Show of a Woman's Art at the Museum of Modern Art, Awarded the Gold Medal of Painting by the National Institute of Arts and Letters, Awarded the Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor, and President Ronald Reagan presented her with the National Medal of Arts in 1985. The poster measures 22 1/2" X 37" ( 57.2 cm X 94 cm ). The framed (silver frame)poster measures about 28" X 40" X 3/4" ( 71 cm X 101.5 cm X 2 cm ) .
