Mario Algaze silver gelatin print, "Buscando Justicia"
The photographs of Mario Algaze (born in Cuba, 1947) resonate with the distinct rhythmic pulse of Latin America. Never forced or structured, his work sensitively and accurately reveals the timeless landscapes and peoples of the Americas and yet appears enigmatic and personal, like a daydream image. "Many of Mario's photographs revel in the art that most imposes a sense of style on Latin American life: architecture. Stairways, columns, porches, balconies, roofs, doorways, arches, walls." - Enrique Fernandez, "Mario Algaze:Portfolio Latinoamericano." Gina Kehayoff, Munich, 1997. This image was taken in Guatemala, 1996. It is an original selenium-toned, silver gelatin photograph, signed by the artist.
