Mountain Landscape measuring 25" X 18" not including the frame. 28" x 21" including the frame. Signed Wm J. Melville in the lower left hand corner, and dated "52" which is probably 1952. I could not find any listing for the artist which really surprised me because this is a fine Gouache Watercolor Painting. The painting depicts a serene landscape with a small summer cottage off to the right. In the background you can see a very distinctive shaped mountain. I don' ...click for details

Gatefold, a page larger than the others in a magazine or book, bound so it could be unfolded and opened out like a gate. Well that is a dictionary definition, but the reality was a little different. Esquires gatefolds for the most part used only two pages, unlike Playboy's centerfold that uses three pages of the centerfold. The benefit of Esquires approach is no staple holes in the picture, only a page fold. Original Gatefolds are approximately 14" high by 18" in width and have a ve ...click for details

It is Very Rare that you will find a Chinese Export Carp Tureen or referred to as a Fish Tureen, with a orange-red fish flopped on it's side with it's head and tail curling up with a small carp perched on its cover serving as a knop or a finial. Several Years ago I sold one manufactured by Mottahedah FOR $2,000.00. Previous to that one a real chinese export Fish Tureen identical or I should say that the Mottahedah one was identical to this real one that sold at Christie's in New Yor ...click for details
