| Circa 1840 Chinese Export Rose Medallion 6-Sided Octagon Shaped Cache-Pot with the original underplate. The Cache Pot is 7" in height and 9 3/4" in width at the top. The inside dimension at that top opening is 8". The bottom diameter of the cache pot is 7 1/4" at the widest point and the outside dimension of the underplate is 9 5/8" and the inside dimension of the underplate is 7 3/4". Cache Pots with Original underplates are almost impossible to find. no chips, cracks or any damage, just evidence that the inside has had a lot of dirt and flowers and orchids rubbing against it. The only real reference book on "Chinese Export Porcelain" was written by Herbert Schiffer a known chinese export dealer who has since died. On pages 110 and 111, Schiffer has examples of Cache Pots and #307 is the example that is the same of this piece. | |||||||||||||
