Small antique red cinnabar lacquered metal standing elephant with an incised banana leaf and butterfly design rug on its back. The elephant has his trunk raised high above its head, and its tusks are also raised upward. The elephant’s eyes appear to be wide open. It measures 4” H x 1-1/2” W x 4-3/4” D, and weighs 5 oz. The elephant is in excellent condition and is marked “China” on the bottom of the right foot. Age is from the early 20th century.
