Vintage Japanese bronze temple/altar vase with a flared top, and three artistic designs in applied gold/gilt. Vase measures 7”H x 5-1/8”Diameter at top, and weight is 1.8 lbs. Vase is in good condition, with a dark brown patina that has some age spots, minor dents and a slightly uneven rim. Age is first half of 20th century.
Rectangular inlaid wood box with a hinged top. The top is slightly raised, with a center of finely cut circular flowers and star shaped designs. The colors in the box are red, green, blue, black and shades of brown. Size: 2”H x 8-3/4”W x 2-3/4”D, 1 lb. Weight is: 1 lb. Good overall condition, with the exception of a small piece of wood trim missing on the bottom edge. Late 20th century.
Bronze finely etched Yatata brush and ink holder with a variety of floral and fern designs. The holder has two lidded openings, one for the brush and other for ink. The Yatata measures 1-1/8”H x 7-3/4”W x 1-5/8”D at the widest, and weighs 10 oz. The condition is good with a darkened patina. Age is mid 20th century.
Japanese slender bulb-shaped bronze Ikebana vase with a brown patina. The vase has an impressed mark, “Japan” on the bottom and measures 9”H x 3”Diameter at the widest. Weight is 10 oz. Good condition, with the exception of a rub mark to the patina on the body of the vase. Age is c. Mid 20th century.
Unique Bronze incense burner with double peacock back, and in the front the Goddess “Parvati” is in the center with an elephant on each side. Below the goddess are two birds, along with two attendants on either side. The bowl of the burner comes to a point in the front, and has a floral decorated base. The burner measures 5-1/4”H x 3-3/16”W x 3-3/4”D, 14 oz. The overall condition is excellent. Age is c. mid 20th century.
Early bronze betel cylinder shaped box that was used for white lime paste with the betel (still has some residue), and has a variety of finely detailed decorations, with a matching lid that fits snugly on the body of the container. This offering is for an antique Japanese bronze candle stand (Shokudai), with detailed decorations and a sharp pointed pricket upon which to mount a candle. Featured on the bronze stand are six-panels showing a variety of birds and flowers in relief, with mythological elephant handles on each side, and mounted on three foo lion feet attached to a 2.5” diameter base. This offering is for two (2) antique Japanese bronze candle stands (Shokudai). One features six-panels of birds in relief (8.5”H x 3”diameter, 1.7 lbs.), and the other has two-panels depicting an image of Buddha in raised relief seated on a rock (8-5/8”H x 3”diameter, 1.10 lbs.). Both Shokudai have foo lion handles and are mounted on three-lion feet attached to a round base. Both are in very good condition. Age is c.1868-1912 (Meiji period).
This offering is for two Hakata Urasaki Doll figures. The first is of a Calligrapher shown seated at a table holding an ink brush above a document with a kanji character. The sculpture has finely detailed facial features, with a furrowed brow, bald head and full beard. It measures 5-1/2”H x 4-1/2’W x 4”D, and weighs 14 oz. Condition is very good with a miniscule chip of paint missing from a corner of desk. Age is mid 20th century.

Early Japanese bronze hand held kagami (mirror) with rectangular handle. The back of the mirror is decorated with a variety of finely detailed flowers, and has what appear to be two Mon (family crests of the joining families in a wedding). It also has four Kanji in relief on the right side, that is the maker’s signature. Size is: 7 1/2" diameter x 10 1/2” long, and weighs 10 ozs.
