Ancient, rare Korean stoneware lidded jar that was made during the Three Kingdoms period, 57 BC - AD 668, (between the 5th and 6th century AD), by residents of the Silla Kingdom in the south-east of Korea. This type of high-fired stoneware is typical of that period. The outer and inner surfaces are coated with a thin ash glaze, some of which is still visible in several places. The hair shows hand workmanship rather than being just cast as part of the bronze figure and is tightly curled around his head.
