| This offering is for a vintage Japanese “950” Sterling two-piece set of a Silver-mixed metal Compact and matching Lipstick Case in the original box w/folding lid. The compact is octagonal (8-sided) with the front decorated with an etched design of an Ikebana basket and flowers, and the back decorated with an etched design of flowers, and the signature of the artist/maker. When open, it reveals a highly polished silver mirror on both sides (the top silver mirror has some discoloration). Under the bottom mirror is the original powder puff and holder. The “950” silver mark is under the powder puff. The lipstick holder is a match to the compact with the “950” silver mark on the bottom of the lipstick insert. Condition is very good, but the small mirror also has some discoloration. The compact measures 3-1/4” Diameter x ½” H; and weighs 4.28 oz/121.3 g. The lipstick holder measures 2-1/4” H 3/4” W x 9/16” D; and weighs 1.44 oz/40.8 g. Age is pre-1950. | |||||||||||||||
