| This offering is for an antique Chinese bronze four-sided incense burner, featuring a large foo lion on the lid with a pierced-type ball under its right foot. The burner is supported on four legs that protrude out of the mouths of mythological animal heads on the bottom corners. The archaic style includes T’ao-T’ieh mask designs on the body. The lid on this well-worn incense burner has pieces of metal trim missing from the edges of the left and back corners where they were broken off many years ago. The foo lion on the lid has an opening on the underside that enabled incense smoke to escape through its open mouth. The burner is missing the two handles that are typically located on the sides of similar styled burners. There are also a few small holes in the body from decades of use in burning incense and from age. It measures 11” H x 7” W x 5-1/4” D; and weighs 6.25 lbs. This is a genuine antique and the age is from the 17th - 18th century. | |||||||||||||||
