Amazing Pair of Tang Dynasty Tomb Pottery Female Polo Players With Oxford TL Certificate

Period: Tang Dynasty 618 to 907, China.

Size: Each statue is approximately 13.5 inches in length and 11.5 inches in height. Total height on stand is about 15 inches.

Condition: These statues are in excellent condition with good original pigment still remaining. Professionally restored legs not visible to the eye. Color fading, abrasions, small chips and/or minor deterioration with possible areas of expert restoration is not unusual in burial pieces of this age.

Description: This is a pair of very beautiful female polo players on horse back. The attached Oxford TL test is for the polo player on the left in the first image. During the Tang Dynasty women enjoyed many privileges such as horse riding and playing polo that were previously male only sports. The female polo player and the horse are both beautifully sculpted. This polo player has been thermoluminescence tested by Oxford Authentication dating it to the Tang period. A copy of the TL Certificate appears in the last photo.
