Rare Tang Dynasty Pottery Camel Rider
Exceptional Tang Dynasty Tomb Pottery Camel

Period: Tang Dynasty, China, AD 618-907.

Size: This camel is approximately 16.5" tall and 14" in length. The rider on camel is about 19.5" tall.

Condition: Good, rear left area has a tiny hairline crack that's been repaired, some original pigments, some color fading, abrasions, small chips and/or minor deterioration with possible areas of expert restoration is not unusual in burial pieces of this age.

Description: This well-proportioned camel has twin humps and long legs. It also has a long, curving neck. It has a very distinct look on its face also. This camel also has a rider. The rider is not attached and sits on the camel nicely. Camels carried both passengers and goods and were the chief means of transportation along the Silk Road that linked China to the West. .
