15th C. Vietnamese Porcelain Ewer

Early Vietnamese Blue and White Porcelain Pouring Vessel (Ewer)

Period:1490's, Vietnam

Size:The ewer is 2 1/8" in height and approximately 3 1/2" wide.

Description:The ewer is part of our collection of early Vietnamese porcelains recovered from a sunken ship. The ship sank in the 1490's carrying pieces of everyday porcelain to destinations unknown. Pieces similar to these have been found as far away as Egypt and being for everyday use, very few that reached their destination have survived. Never being used, the only deterioration is from being in the sea for 500 years. The vessel is painted in underglaze blue with a collar of overlapping lotus petals. The body is decorated with a continuous meander of orchid blossoms amid double-leaf sprays. The ewer has losses to the spout but intact scroll-form handle.

Shipping and Insurance: We ship Federal Express. U.S. customers: FedEx Ground (3-5 business days), $15. ; 2nd day air, $25. To Europe: International Priority (2-3 business days) $45. These shipping charges are estimates and may vary up to 40%. Please contact us for your destination.
