Estimated Value:$250.00 Chinese Wedding Bucket in Natural Wood Finish Period: Qing Dynasty, Mid 1800's, China. Size: This beautiful bucket is approximately 7" tall with a 1" carved knob. The diameter of the opening is approximately 7 3/4". Condition: A couple of the sections have separated but are held firmly with wire bands. The knob on top shows some wear. Description: The red lacquered bucket was a traditional wedding gift for the Chinese couple. Some were for gifts of food, others were bridesmaid buckets that held hair ornaments. Though pretty standard in size, they varied in decoration. Some were intricately carved while others plain but all were the beautiful Chinese red lacquered color. This bucket is in a natural wood color state, possibly having been stripped because of excessive wear to the red lacquer. The lid has carved scallops and incised circles around and a most interesting knob. It is a carved foo dog sitting proudly in the middle. The bottom shows a light chops mark and there is another under the lid. Shipping, Handling & Insurance: U.S. continental customers: FedEx $20.00 International customers: $95.00 to most countries, please contact us for specific destination. Insurance: Required, $1 for each one hundred dollars declared in value. |
