Excellent Wei Dynasty Tomb Pottery Recumbent Camel
Excellent Wei Dynasty Painted Tomb Pottery Recumbent Camel Period: Wei Dynasty, China, AD 386-557. Size: This camel stands approximately 11.8" tall. Condition: Good,with some original pigments, some color fading, abrasions, small chips and/or minor deterioration with possible areas of expert restoration is not unusual in burial pieces of this age. Description: This well-proportioned camel has twin humps and long legs. This camel is assuming a recumbent position on a rectangular slab base. It has a curving neck and has a very distinct look on his face with his mouth open slightly. This camel is a brownish red color. The camel is carrying supplies on his back. Camels carried both passengers and goods and were the chief means of transportation along the Silk Road that linked China to the West. Buyer may request this item TL tested (thermoluminiscence) by Oxford Authentication in England for an additional fee of $450.00 for items in our China distribution point.
