Exceptional Pair of Tang Dynasty Tomb Pottery Painted Camels

Period: Tang Dynasty, China, AD 618-907.

Size: The pair of camels is approximately 16" tall and 14" in length.

Condition: Good, no visible repairs, color fading, abrasions, small chips and/or minor deterioration with possible areas of expert restoration is not unusual in burial pieces of this age.

Description: This is a pair of well-proportioned camels with twin humps and long legs. They also have long and curving necks. They are standing on small square bases. Camels carried both passengers and goods and were the chief means of transportation along the Silk Road that linked China to the West.
