Museum Quality Tang Dynasty Tomb Pottery Painted Camel

Period: Tang Dynasty, China, AD 618-907.

Size: This camel is approximately 15 inches in height and 11 1/2 inches in length.

Condition: Good, no visible repairs, color fading, abrasions, small chips and/or minor deterioration with possible areas of expert restoration is not unusual in burial pieces of this age.

Description: This camel is well-proportioned with twin humps and long legs. It also has a long, curving neck. It is standing on small square base. Camels carried both passengers and goods and were the chief means of transportation along the Silk Road that linked China to the West.
