An Antique Cast Iron Nutcracker in the Form of a Dog, circa 1900
This charming nutcracker in the form of a Lab or other large canine is cast in two pieces and joined by two rivets. The movable tale counteracts the jaw to clench down to crack a nut. The piece has a warm golden brown patina with black spots. The nutcracker is unmarked.
A Pair of Cast Iron Architectural Lion Heads, Cleveland, Ohio, Late 19th Century
This is a magnificent pair of cast iron elements from the Blackstone Building that was located near Public Square in Cleveland, Ohio. These three dimensional figures with full mane and open mouth have wonderful detail. I believe these elements were used to as a finishing cap for a tension rod or structural support.
