The turned standard is hand carved with a sheath of wheat, swags and ball design. The standard has been fitted with electricity and is supported by a square base. The piece is probably a portion of a 19th century bed post.
Each element is hand crafted in the form of a roaring dragon fashioned with a shield shaped mid section and scrolling elements. Possible these are brackets for a hanging lantern. Maker unknown.
