A Pair of Sterling Silver Candlesticks, Mathews Company circa 1930
The tall candlesticks have a pronounced bobeche over an elongated urn shape standard with decoration in relief and fluted bands. The sticks are supported by a round and stepped base with a beaded band and a band of stylized leaves. The verso is marked with the company’s logo, a sword with an “M” and “STERLING, 40, BASED FILLED WITH PITCH.”

The cylindrical form has a rolled rim and a gilt interior. The handle is in the Melbourne pattern with a floral and leafy scroll work design. The front of the mug is engraved in script “Charles.” The bottom is marked “Melbourne, Oneida Community, Sterling.”

A Bronze Color Sculpture of an Elephant, early 20th Century
The elephant, majestic in its size and form, this small version set on an onyx base with trunk pointing up is a symbol of good luck. The form cast in metal with a bronze color paitina is wonderful and the cold painted tusk have that look of ivory. The sculpture is unsigned.
